Nail Technology - Iowa School of Beauty

Overview

A nail technician specializes in grooming and appearance of fingernails and toenails. He or she provides manicures, pedicures, nail shaping, cuticle grooming, callus removal, synthetic nail treatments, and application of nail polish for their clients. Nail professionals can treat natural nails as well as add-on acrylic nails, gel coverings, or a silk strengthener.

Iowa School of Beauty is not currently offering the Nail Technology program:

Sioux City and Des Moines

A student attends class a minimum of 36 hours per week. When regular attendance is followed, the curriculum requirements of 325 hours of study can be fulfilled within 10 weeks.

Curriculum

The State of Iowa requires 325 hours of instruction in the Nail Technology program. The 325 hours consist of a minimum of 200 hours in demonstrations and lectures and 125 hours in supervised practical instruction.

Graduation & Licensing Requirements

Upon successful completion of 325 hours, all academic requirements met and financial obligations satisfied, the student will be issued a diploma. Upon successfully passing the State Board Exam at a designated testing center, receiving a diploma, and applying/paying for state licensure; the student is awarded a Nail Technology License in the State of Iowa.

Payment

Payment Schedule Options

Method of payment for application fee, equipment kit, textbook, and tuition are as follows:

  1. Paid totally in advance.
  2. Paid in installments of $2,000 for the first month and $1,437 per month for two additional consecutive months.
    If the student fails to complete the course within 12 weeks, the student will be charged at the rate of $12.32/hour for additional instruction.

Equipment, textbooks, and supplies furnished by the school for use by each enrolled student are included in the list below. These become the property of the student. The student will be responsible for replacing lost or damaged equipment and materials.
