Overview

Massage Therapy / Bodywork is a healing art. The profession is one of the fastest growing in the health field today. ISB has an emphasis on therapeutic massage. The benefits of therapeutic massage are being increasingly recognized, in turn putting bodywork in its rightful place in the medical community.

The Massage Therapy program consists of 650 hours of study.  A student that attends day classes will attend a minimum of 25 hours per week and can complete the program within 26 weeks. (Program currently offered in Des Moines only)

You will learn:

  • Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Prenatal/Infant Massage, Trigger Point Therapy
  • Deep Tissue Manipulation, Geriatric Massage, Rehabilitation Massage, Corporate Massage
  • Therapeutic Bodywraps, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Ethics, Boundaries, Laws and Regulations
  • Business Practices, Guidelines for Professional Practice

Curriculum

The State of Iowa requires students to complete and graduate from a college with an approved curriculum from the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy. All graduates must complete a board approved examination prior to licensure.

A student that attends day classes will attend a minimum of 25 hours per week. When regular attendance is followed, the curriculum requirements of 650 hours of study can be fulfilled within 26 weeks.

Payment

Payment Schedule Options

Method of payment for application fee, equipment kit, textbook, and tuition are as follows:

  1. Paid totally in advance. (All students receiving government assistance, loans or grants will follow this
    payment schedule).
  2. Paid in installments of $3,076.00 the first month, $2,325.00 per month for four additional consecutive months.
    If a student fails to complete the  course in 29 weeks, the student will be charged at the rate of $15.68/hour for additional instruction.

ISB accepts cash, credit or debit cards, cashier’s check, money orders, or Title IV aid which includes: Pell grants, Direct and Plus loans.

Graduation & Licensing Requirements

Upon successful completion of 650 hours, all academic requirements met and financial obligations satisfied, the student will be issued a diploma. Upon successfully passing the State Board Exam at a designated testing center, receiving a diploma, and applying/paying for state licensure; the student is awarded a Massage Therapy License in the State of Iowa.
